Nicola Shipley is a photographer from the arts organisation Grain, who gave us a talk on starting out in the industry as newly graduated photographers. This organisation supports upcoming photographers through arranging exhibitions and commissions, whilst also providing a platform for artists to learn product management, research and the opportunity to work with other artists. Nicola has worked with photographers such as Arpita Shah (who I have written a blog about also), Lua Ribeira, David Bethell, Sam Ivin and many others.

It was interesting to learn that there are organisations like Grain who are there to help photographers establish themselves, as well as there being a platform for us to be able to network with other artists once we have left the university environment.
